NTR’s Dragon is set to show a very different side of the star, and that includes the action. The film’s action director D’Souza has revealed that the team has reworked the entire action style to suit NTR’s new look and character.
A New Physique, a New Approach
NTR has gone through a major transformation for Dragon. He has toned down his physique for the role, and director Prashanth Neel earlier revealed that the actor lost around 15 to 16 kg for the film.
In Dragon, NTR plays an assassin, and that changed how the action had to be designed.
“NTR’s physicality is different; he has toned down his physique and is playing an assassin, so the action must feel believable and relatable,” D’Souza said.
“We Have Redefined the Action Language”
Instead of over-the-top stunts, the team has gone for fights that feel real and fit the character.
“We have redefined the action language to make it more convincing. The fights are realistic and suited to his character and physique, while still delivering crowd-pleasing impact,” D’Souza explained.
Mass Without the Usual Tricks
The action director also made it clear that realistic doesn’t mean the film will lose its mass appeal. He feels mass moments come from the story, not from flashy stunts.
“‘Mass’ action doesn’t necessarily mean people flying through the air, slow-motion walks or jumps. It comes from a powerful moment created through storytelling and conveyed through action. That is the change we have made,” he said.
Answering the Critics
The comments also answer a lot of the talk around NTR’s new look. When his leaner look was first seen, it drew mixed reactions from some fans. Prashanth Neel later explained that the transformation was a deliberate choice for the character.
Now, the action team’s words make it clear that the physique and the action have been planned together to make NTR’s assassin look real on screen.
A Different Neel Film?
Prashanth Neel is known for larger-than-life action in films like KGF and Salaar. If Dragon goes for grounded, realistic fights while keeping the mass impact, it could be a fresh change in style for both Neel and NTR.
For fans, it’s one more reason to be curious about what Dragon has in store.
